I feel that Americans at whole are ignorant?

Let me start off by saying that I love America and I am aware that many people all across the world want to emigrate to this country because of all the opportunities that are available as well as our non oppressive way of life that stresses liberty and natural law (a right to live). However, I still feel that many Americans have a knee jerk reaction towards people who question the way our government goes about ensuring these things. It's not just an issue I have with Republicans, although there may be a stronger correlation between arrogance in this regard and Republican loyalty. It just bothers me sometimes that many of these "conflicting" cultures histories were founded upon and created under the oppression of white supremacist /imperialistic governments. It's not solely a matter of education, it's ignorance. I don't have all the answers as to how to "cure" the ignorance of our mes, but I do think my opinion is grounded on reality.
